Tasting notes

Deep purple red in colour and has a beautiful aroma of red dark fruit combined with a hint of mint and chocolate. A complex wine with smooth ripe tannins and a long finish.

Producer note

Matias Riccitelli is the son of renowned winemaker Jorge Riccitelli (Bodegas Norton). Using the experience, knowledge and passion passed down from his father, Matias decided to set up his very own winery in 2009. His vineyards cover 20 hectares located in three selected sites within the premium growing region of Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. This is a young and dynamic project in which Matias is seeking to express the full potential of Argentine terroir.

Vineyard note

An altitude of 1050 metres above sea level, and a continental climate consists of cold winters and mild summers. It is warm during the day, and cool at night. Winter temperatures average between 6C and 21C in the summer. Average rainfall is 200mm. The Vistalba soils are loamy, clay like, calcareous, with a depth of 1 metre above the rocky subsoil. This soil has good drainage, promoting the healing and growth of roots. Irrigation is done by the traditional technique of flooding. Mass selection of rootstock of unknown origin, average age of 60 years with a planting density of 5000 plants.

Vinification

De-leafing and green pruning is performed in December. Harvest is performed manually using small trays of 20 kg in order not to damage the grapes. Meticulous sorting is performed by hand prior to vinification in order to select the best grapes. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 26°C. Four pumping overs per day and a long maceration period of 30 days.

Ageing

100% of the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. Final clarification with fresh egg whites.
