The Cypriot wine industry ranks 50th in the world in terms of total production, but it is a very important industry economically to Cyprus. Chronologically, Cyprus belongs to the Old World of wine producing countries but since the industry has been modernised so much in recent years, it seems more on a par with New World producing countries.
