Located in the prestigious Kamptal-Donau (Danube) wine region of Austria, Rabl winery enjoys a wine growing tradition which goes back to 1828 and which is now under the careful eye of Rudolf Rabl Jr. The estate comprises 50 hectares around the hills of Langenlois. The vines are strictly pruned and yields are kept low to obtain good extract in the grapes which are harvested by hand. Temperature controlled fermentation and maturation takes place in stainless steel or in wooden barrels in a cellar that is located 7 meters underground.

Kamptal Donau is the best area for the production of fine Gruner Veltiner wines, the signature white grape for Austria.

Grape: 100% Gruner Veltliner

Vinification: The grapes were harvested and the fermentation was started spontaneously with natural yeasts. The fermentation was carried out with part of the wine in stainless steel tanks and the remainder in large oak vats. The wine was then aged in tank for 1 year.

Tasting note: Lovely aromas of green apples and pears together with pepper through to a mineral, spicy and harmonious palate with great length.

Awards: The 2004 won the 2006 Decanter Austrian Single Variety Trophy over £10.
