Gutsy and full-bodied Claret offering exceptional value.

Production

Château Lalande is made up from 55% Cabernet, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc and is perfectly situated between Châteaux Talbot and Lagrange (classified in 1855 as fourth and third growths respectively). This enviable position elevates what is in fact a simple petite château to something quite special. Grapes are carefully harvested before being de-stemmed and crushed and transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Fermentation lasts around 10-15 days, with 7 days maceration. The wine spends 12 months in oak, around 30% of which is new (depending upon the nature of the vintage).

Tasting notes

Classic Saint-Julien, that shows power and richness with a sense of finesse and restraint too. The nose shows rich fruit with some lifted eucalyptus notes from the Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate brings intense cassis, with fine grained tannins and a maturity that feels traditional and proper. A very classy left bank Bordeaux.

Food match

An absolute must with roast beef.
